When the body’s defences are exhausted, disease can take hold. Many illnesses have their root in poor nutrition, allergies, environmental toxicity, metabolic problems, chronic infections and even sunlight deficiency. We offer medical advice and treatments based on the principles of ecological medicine.

This is not alternative medicine - what we do is based on scientific principles. Nor is it orthodox medicine - we believe that medical drugs are powerful, but can have powerful side-effects, and should be treated with respect. We believe in working with the body as much as possible, by supporting and stimulating the body’s own ways of combatting disease.

Ecological Medicine is a developing concept and approach to health that looks at the effect of the environment on the body and mind, and at the effect of our actions on the planet. Dr Downing is currently president of the British Society for Ecological Medicine.
