A full month will be enough for most people at one go, and taking a break then allows you to review progress. You may well feel worse during the treatment; this is a result of the mobilisation of chemicals into the bloodstream. If the worsening is severe, you will need to slow down the treatment - either do less time each day or have days off. You will probably lose weight; although this is not essential as an indicator, it is an encouraging sign. A successful result is when you start to feel significantly better, but this may not be apparent until you stop doing the saunas. In a study on 210 adults with chemical problems in the USA, 86% felt better after the treatment (1% felt worse). We often advise re-testing chemical levels at this point to confirm and measure progress. The regime is best followed early in the day, and definitely not late in the evening, nor soon after a large meal. Begin as follows:

Supplementation & Diet This is our recommended regime of supplements and replacement for when you are on a detox programme. The water and electrolytes are pretty much mandatory. The others can be fitted around your needs and lifestyle. The first 3 items here can be combined in one drink: 1. Water Doing the exercise and sauna you will definitely lose fluid heavily, and this must be replaced. Drink at least 1 litre of mineral water (or good quality filtered water) daily, and more if it feels right to you. 2. Electrolyte replacement This replaces Sodium and, more importantly, Potassium and Magnesium, lost in sweat. You are advised to take it every time you do the programme even if you do not feel the need. Also read the section below on Salt or Potassium Depletion and use more if you feel any of these symptoms. Remember that it is important to replace water also. Usage: 1 teaspoon or 1 capful of the E-Lyte Mineral Solution in water, during or after each sauna. Vitamin C This will provide antioxidant support, and also encourage liver excretion. Usage: 3 to 20 grams daily, well-diluted in your water, spread throughout the day.
