Sauna Detox
|
The purpose of this is twofold: firstly it normally produces a flush, starting about 20 minutes after taking and lasting for 45-60 minutes. (The Niacinamide or Nicotinamide form does not usually do this). This increases the bloodflow through both fat and skin, and so improves the mobilisation of chemicals and their excretion in the sweat. Secondly it is an important nutrient, helping to detoxify and protecting against chemical damage. Usage: Take about 20 mins before exercise, and repeat as necessary. Start with 100-125mg at a time and increase as needed to an absolute maximum of 2000mg (2 Grams) daily. The flushing effect will be strong at first, but will reduce as your body gets accustomed to it. We recommend; Niacin 250mg from Allergy Research, or Nialipin 400mg from Ecological formulas. Note Liver damage has been reported with high doses of Niacin; almost all cases had used the sustained-release form in doses of several grams daily. 5. General Supplements It is advisable to take a high quality, relatively high dose, multivitamin/multimineral preparation throughout the course. Usage: 2-3 daily. We recommend: Multi Basics 3 from AOR 6. Oils A high oil intake will help to mobilise the chemicals, and to maintain the levels of essential fatty acids in the cells. The ideal is an organic oil, with balanced amounts of omega-6 and omega-3, combined with adequate oils in your diet (see below). If you do not find it easy to swallow pure oil, you can take capsules of both omega-3 and omega-6. Usage: 1-2 tablespoons daily in divided doses, with food (mixed in is all right) |
We recommend: Body Bio Balance Oil (contains flax and hemp) 7. Diet The simplest answer to the question of what to eat on this programme would be; Fresh seafish, salads and fibre, using organic food where possible. This diet will minimise the intake of pesticides and other chemicals and maximise the intake of micronutrients. Using cold-pressed virgin olive oil generously in salad dressings and mayonnaises would also help your oil intake. Naturally, alcohol tobacco and other ’social poisons’, including tea and coffee, are taboo. Naturally also, you do not need to keep religiously to the 3 foods listed, but can add to it yourself using common sense. and avoiding toxins and chemicals as much as reasonably possible. Make sure that you have enough food overall, and watch your blood sugar level during sauna sessions. Equipment There are two options besides using the local gym. An alternative method that some people have found more practical is to use a small portable sauna, of the kind that zip up to your neck. These are currently available for around £50-100 (my office has the details), can be set up in or near your own bathroom, and make it easy to do the programme at home. The downside is that some people have reacted to the chemicals in the fabrics etc in this sauna. The other option is the sleeping bag-style of Far Infra-Red Sauna. This is more expensive (about £400) but certainly more comfortable for some. My only problem with this device is that it does not induce much sweating, so I am not sure what it is actually doing — is it detoxing? Both are available from Get Fitt www.get-fitt.com, who we believe will let you loan them to try out. |
